Santiago & Novaliches

I have heard so much about mission trips, and wondered if life can really be transformed through a trip so short. As I was preparing my heart for the trip, I started to develop fear and uncertainty. I didn’t know what to expect and how God can use me.

I had my first breakthrough experience in a church that is newly planted by Pastor Mark Ritchie & his team at Santa Monica (A village in Santiago). On our way to the church, we lost our way. I was temporally relieved that it got delayed thinking that I would not have to preach in the church. Maureen was kind enough to reassure me that they will wait for us no matter what. I know I can’t hide nor run away; I needed to exercise faith and put my trust in God.

The response for the evening service was good, there were about 50 people. It was full house. The praise and worship was awesome, men in their 30s and 40s were jumping for joy praising the Lord! There’s such a hunger and desire for God. God’s presence was with us. At that moment, I forgot about my own struggle and fear and God took me on an exciting journey of witnessing His goodness and faithfulness upon His people.

God can use you and me if we allow Him to. He reminded me once again that He is the Almighty God that I’m serving and never underestimate His ability and how he can use you and me as His vessel. He taught me a wonderful lesson on love and faith.

I’m blessed to be given this opportunity to experience His goodness and greatness. God is moving and doing wonders in the Philippines. The pastoral teams that we have met have been great; they took good care of us and I have made new friends. It was truly an unforgettable experience! Praise the Lord!
